About the Barracuda 530 RIB

The Barracuda 530 is a 5.3-metre rigid inflatable (RIB) with a 60 HP outboard — the boat to choose if you want to drive yourself and actually get somewhere. It cruises at about 22 knots, which puts Koločep and the Elaphiti Islands roughly 25 minutes from Marina Frapa and Cavtat, at the southern end of the coast, within a comfortable half-day. The inflatable tubes give a soft, dry ride through the afternoon chop that an open hard boat of this size would slam into.

It carries up to five guests and has a bimini sun-shade, dry storage, an anchor and rope, and life jackets. Because it is over 5 metres, Croatian law requires a recognised national boating licence or an ICC to drive it; bring the original with you to the pier. If you do not hold one, add a skipper for €70 per slot and the boat becomes a private speedboat with a local at the wheel.

Slots are a half-day of 4 hours, departing 10:00 or 14:00, at €220, or a full day of 8 hours from 10:00 to 18:00 at €330. Fuel is not included: it is charged on top according to what you actually use and settled at the marina when you return, so a morning around Lokrum costs less in fuel than a full day island-hopping. It suits active couples and groups of friends who are comfortable on the water: a half-day to Lokrum and the Old Town walls, or a full day out to Lopud and Šunj beach with lunch ashore.

Every rental starts with a boat-handling and safety briefing at the pier. The Barracuda 530 departs from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi (roughly 4 km) from the Old Town. Pay online through Stripe Checkout or at the marina by arrangement.

Licence, fuel and skipper

At 5.3 m the Barracuda 530 RIB is over the 5 m / 5 kW threshold, so self-drive needs a recognised national boating licence or an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) — bring the original to the pier. The rule comes from the Croatian boating regulations administered by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.

Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP. On every other boat, fuel is charged on top according to what you actually use, settled at the marina when you return.

Skipper add-on: €50 per half-day, €70 per full day (€80 full day on the Fisher 20), on boats where it is offered.

Third-party liability insurance is included with every rental; full policy terms are available on request before you book.

Weather, cancellation and payment

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure with a full refund. If DHMZ (the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service) issues a marine wind warning for the day, we cancel and refund 100% — even inside 24 hours. Cancellations inside 24 hours for other reasons are non-refundable, but we will rebook you into the next available slot free of charge whenever we can.

We follow the official marine forecast from DHMZ — Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service rather than a phone app, and the skipper at the pier decides on the day whether conditions are suitable for self-drive.

Questions about renting the Barracuda 530 RIB

Do I need a licence to rent this boat?

Check the spec table on this page. Boats under 5 m with engines up to 5 kW — our Pasara 5 HP — need no licence under Croatian law. Every other boat needs a recognised national boating licence or ICC for self-drive, or you can add one of our skippers for €50 per half-day or €70–€80 per full day.

Is fuel included?

Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP. On every other boat it is charged on top according to what you actually use, settled at the marina when you return — a short run to Lokrum costs less than a full day in the Elaphiti Islands. The rental price covers the boat, life jackets, safety briefing and third-party liability insurance.

Where exactly do we meet, and at what time?

At Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town. Half-day rentals depart at 10:00 or 14:00 and full-day rentals at 10:00, returning by 18:00. We send a Google Maps pin and a contact number by email after you book, and parking is available at the marina.

What if the weather is bad?

If DHMZ (the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service) issues a marine wind warning for your day, we cancel and refund 100%, even inside 24 hours. If you would rather keep the trip, we move you to the next available slot free of charge whenever we can. We never send a boat out in unsafe conditions.
