About the Barracuda 545 RIB

The Barracuda 545 is the bigger, more powerful sister of the 530: a 5.45-metre rigid inflatable with a 100 HP outboard, cruising at about 24 knots and carrying up to six guests. The RIB hull gives a dry ride and a shallow draught, which is what makes it the boat for the small rocky coves around Lopud and Koločep that larger hard boats cannot enter. It comes with a cooler box, an anchor and rope, life jackets and snorkelling gear on request.

At over 5 metres it needs a recognised national boating licence or an ICC for self-drive; bring the original to the pier. Without one, add a skipper for €50 on a half-day or €70 on a full day — on this boat in particular a skipper who knows the coves is worth it. Slots are a half-day of 4 hours, departing 10:00 or 14:00, at €270, or a full day of 8 hours from 10:00 to 18:00 at €450.

Fuel is charged on top according to what you actually use and settled at the marina when you return. Where it goes: Lokrum is about 10 minutes from Marina Frapa and Koločep about 25, so a half-day covers the Old Town walls, Lokrum and a cove on Koločep — the Koločep Blue Cave is on this island, and the cave is entered by swimming from the boat. A full day runs the Elaphiti chain to Lopud and Šunj sandy beach and on to Šipan, or south past the city to Cavtat.

Every rental starts with a safety and boat-handling briefing at the pier. It suits couples and groups of up to six who want to swim and snorkel more than they want to sit — and who do not mind a little spray. The Barracuda 545 departs from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi (roughly 4 km) from the Old Town.

Licence, fuel and skipper

At 5.45 m the Barracuda 545 RIB is over the 5 m / 5 kW threshold, so self-drive needs a recognised national boating licence or an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) — bring the original to the pier. The rule comes from the Croatian boating regulations administered by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.

Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP. On every other boat, fuel is charged on top according to what you actually use, settled at the marina when you return.

Skipper add-on: €50 per half-day, €70 per full day (€80 full day on the Fisher 20), on boats where it is offered.

Third-party liability insurance is included with every rental; full policy terms are available on request before you book.

Weather, cancellation and payment

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure with a full refund. If DHMZ (the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service) issues a marine wind warning for the day, we cancel and refund 100% — even inside 24 hours. Cancellations inside 24 hours for other reasons are non-refundable, but we will rebook you into the next available slot free of charge whenever we can.

We follow the official marine forecast from DHMZ — Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service rather than a phone app, and the skipper at the pier decides on the day whether conditions are suitable for self-drive.

Do I need a licence to rent this boat?

Check the spec table on this page. Boats under 5 m with engines up to 5 kW — our Pasara 5 HP — need no licence under Croatian law. Every other boat needs a recognised national boating licence or ICC for self-drive, or you can add one of our skippers for €50 per half-day or €70–€80 per full day.

Is fuel included?

Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP. On every other boat it is charged on top according to what you actually use, settled at the marina when you return — a short run to Lokrum costs less than a full day in the Elaphiti Islands. The rental price covers the boat, life jackets, safety briefing and third-party liability insurance.

Where exactly do we meet, and at what time?

At Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town. Half-day rentals depart at 10:00 or 14:00 and full-day rentals at 10:00, returning by 18:00. We send a Google Maps pin and a contact number by email after you book, and parking is available at the marina.

What if the weather is bad?

If DHMZ (the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service) issues a marine wind warning for your day, we cancel and refund 100%, even inside 24 hours. If you would rather keep the trip, we move you to the next available slot free of charge whenever we can. We never send a boat out in unsafe conditions.
