About this tour

This is the Koločep Blue Cave — the sea cave on the cliffs of the nearest Elaphiti island, about 25 minutes from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik. It is not the Biševo Blue Cave in central Dalmatia, which is more than 200 km away and far beyond the reach of a day trip from Dubrovnik. Our shared tour is a genuine half-day: four hours, departing at 10:00 or 14:00 and returning at 14:00 or 18:00.

Each departure carries no more than 12 guests, which is the point of booking this tour rather than a large excursion boat — you board a small speedboat with a skipper, get a welcome drink at the pier, and are on open water within minutes. After the crossing to Koločep the skipper holds the boat at the cave mouth and you swim in through the low entrance; light entering below the waterline turns the water an intense blue, strongest when the sun is high, between roughly 11:00 and 13:00. The 10:00 departure is the one to pick if the cave is your priority.

From the cave the boat moves to a sheltered bay on Koločep for an hour of swimming and snorkelling over clear rock and seagrass bottom, then runs back to the marina. The whole trip is in the water or close to it, so it suits confident swimmers of all ages; children pay the reduced rate of €30. The price of €60 per adult includes the skipper, fuel, safety equipment, a welcome drink and beach towels.

Bring swimwear, sunscreen and a snorkel mask if you have one. The tour departs from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure; if DHMZ issues a marine wind warning for the day we cancel and refund in full.
