About this tour
Mljet is the long, green island south-west of the Pelješac peninsula, and its western third has been a national park since 1960. The crossing from Marina Frapa takes about 75 minutes, which leaves the better part of five hours on the island inside an eight-hour day — the tour departs at 10:00 and returns at 18:00. The skipper lands you at Polače or Pomena, the two park entrances, where you buy the national park ticket.
The ticket is set by the park authority and is not included in the tour price; it covers the lake paths and the small park boat to the islet. The heart of the park is a pair of saltwater lakes, Veliko jezero and Malo jezero, joined to the sea by a narrow channel. You can walk or cycle the path around the larger lake, swim in its warm, calm water, and take the park boat out to St Mary islet, where a 12th-century Benedictine monastery stands on an island within an island.
Mid-afternoon the skipper collects you for a swim stop in a cove on the open-sea side of Mljet before the crossing back to Dubrovnik. Because the boat is private, you choose how to split your time between walking, swimming and the monastery; families with young children usually stay near the lakeside village, while walkers can take the longer loop. The price of €820 is per group of up to 12 guests and includes the licensed skipper, fuel, safety equipment and a cooler with ice.
Bring swimwear, towels, walking shoes, sunscreen and cash or a card for the park ticket and lunch. Private tours are priced per group of up to 12 guests; shared tours are priced per person, with a child rate. Food and drink ashore and the Mljet National Park entry ticket are not included.
Which Blue Cave do your tours visit?
The Koločep Blue Cave in the Elaphiti Islands, about 25 minutes from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik — not the Biševo Blue Cave in central Dalmatia, which is more than 200 km away and cannot be reached on a day trip from Dubrovnik. Book a slot that puts you in the cave between 11:00 and 13:00 for the brightest light.

Where possible we offer the next available departure instead, free of charge. Tours never run in conditions our skippers consider unsafe.
