About this tour

This is the Koločep Blue Cave — the sea cave on the cliffs of the nearest Elaphiti island, about 25 minutes from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik. It is not the Biševo Blue Cave in central Dalmatia, which is more than 200 km away and cannot be visited on a day trip from Dubrovnik. Keep that in mind when you compare tours: a Blue Cave trip that genuinely leaves from Dubrovnik is a half-day, not a dawn-to-dusk marathon.

The tour runs four hours, departing Marina Frapa at 10:00 or 14:00 and returning at 14:00 or 18:00. After a short safety briefing at the pier the skipper runs past the Lapad coast and across the channel to Koločep. The cave is entered by swimming from the boat through a low opening, so this trip suits confident swimmers; once inside, light entering below the waterline turns the water an intense blue.

The effect is strongest when the sun is high, between roughly 11:00 and 13:00, which is why we recommend the morning departure if the cave is your priority. From the Blue Cave the skipper continues to the Green Cave and then anchors in a sheltered bay on Koločep for an hour of swimming and snorkelling over clear rock and seagrass bottom before the run back to the marina. The boat is yours alone: a private group of up to 12 guests, and the skipper adjusts the pace to who is on board — families with young children, couples, or a group of friends who want more cave time and less beach.

The price of €280 is per group, not per person, and includes the licensed skipper, fuel, safety equipment, a cooler with ice and snorkelling masks. Bring swimwear, towels, sunscreen and something to drink. Meet at Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, Lapadska obala 21a, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure; if DHMZ issues a marine wind warning for the day we cancel and refund in full.
